Mid-July the Envigo Research Breeding Facility was ordered to release over 4,000 Beagles. These dogs were purpose bred to be sold to research facilities and tested on all over the country and the world. The dogs have lived their lives in small kennels without ever knowing the joys of grass on their feet, dirt between their toes, or a loving touch. All of this is changing for them now as The Humane Society of the United States works to remove them all from the facility.
HSoMC is proud to announce we will be accepting 50 Beagles from the Envigo rescue. These dogs will need a lot of care and socialization. We expect many to be underweight and to be suffering from dental issues. Of course all will need basic vaccine boosters and spay/neuter surgeries. While we hope to place them all in foster and foster to adopt homes quickly, their care will be ongoing for the next several months and we want to make sure we can support their every need.
